On the weekend of 25th and 26th of May, 2024 Auckland was subjected to torrential rains with a month rain falling in 24 hours. The rain event was so big it made the BBC News in London.
A Statewide customer Pakarunga Plaza located in a low lying area of Auckland suffered severe flooding from drains below the site. The Statewide team both Cleaning and Security combined to pump out flood waters and have the centre clean and ready for trade the next morning.
Jaki Recchia, Centre Manager of Pakarunga Plaza called on Monday to shower praise on the Statewide team for the massive efforts provided to mitigate interruption to trade. Pakarunga Plaza is anchored by Woolworths and Panda.
As a Learn from the event we now as part of our procedures issues Weather Warning Alerts to our Customers as necessary. An example of how we do this is shared below:
Dear Valued Customers,
We are writing to inform you about an urgent weather advisory issued for the Auckland region, including Great Barrier Island, Coromandel Peninsula, and parts of Waikato. The meteorological department has forecasted severe weather conditions for the next 4 hours, from 5 pm to 9 pm today, Wednesday, 29th May.
The forecast includes squally showers embedded in a very strong southwest flow, with a moderate risk of SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. Such intense weather patterns can pose significant risks to your facilities, including structural damage, flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
If you require any assistance or support for your facility needs during this challenging period, please do not hesitate to reach out to your dedicated Statewide facility representative. They are prepared to provide guidance and assistance to address any concerns you may have.
Please stay vigilant, monitor weather updates closely, and take necessary safety measures to protect your assets and employees.
